We Treat and Educate the Public About Eye Conditions

The doctors at Pediatric Ophthalmology Associates, Inc. are members of the American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus. Together with our colleagues from across the country, we work to educate the public on pediatric eye conditions. We provide complete pediatric eye care at our offices in Columbus, Dublin, and Westerville, OH, including the conditions listed below.

We Treat These Common Eye Conditions

Amblyopia (Lazy Eye)

Amblyopia is a vision problem in which one eye is weaker than the other, leading to vision loss in the weaker eye.

Strabismus (Eye Misalignment)

Strabismus is a condition in which the eyes are not properly aligned and point in different directions. It can cause double vision and problems with depth perception.

Nasolacrimal Duct Obstruction (Blocked Tear Ducts)

Blocked tear ducts occur when the tear ducts that drain tears from the eyes into the nose become blocked, causing excessive tearing and discharge from the eyes.

Conjunctivitis (Pink Eye)

Conjunctivitis is an inflammation of the conjunctiva, the thin, clear tissue that lines the inside of the eyelid and covers the white part of the eye. It can cause redness, itching, and discharge from the eyes.

Cataracts

Cataracts cloud the eye’s natural lens, which can cause blurred vision, sensitivity to light, and difficulty seeing at night.

Chalazion (Stye)

A chalazion, or a stye, is a small, painful lump on the eyelid caused by a blocked oil gland. It can cause redness, swelling, and discomfort.

Refractive Error (Nearsighted, Farsighted, and Astigmatism)

Refractive errors are common eye problems that cause blurry vision. Nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism are all types of refractive errors.

Patching Tips

Patching is a treatment used to improve vision in children with amblyopia. It involves covering the stronger eye with a patch to force the weaker eye to work harder.

Retinopathy of Prematurity

Retinopathy of Prematurity is a condition that can occur in premature babies where the blood vessels in the retina do not develop properly, leading to vision problems or blindness.
